Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch.
March has been busy, friends. The house is on the market and we had five little guests staying with us for a few nights while their baby twin brothers were being born, and Daniel and I have some big projects brewing so….let’s take a little Stitch Fix fashion break, shall we?
(I’m not gonna go into the details of the personal styling service Stitch Fix here, but if you want to know more you can check out my posts about whether Stitch Fix is worth it, how it compares to other styling services like Golden Tote. Here’s all you need to know: five items chosen just for you by your stylist arrive in a box to your doorstep. You try ’em on and send back what you don’t want.)
I wrangled my long-suffering husband into taking a break from holding chickens and snapping some photos, so let’s get to it!
Top: Stitch Fix, Skirt: Stitch Fix
Item #1: Black Mesh Skirt. At first glance it looks like a yes…..but that’s just because you haven’t seen the bottom which is….weird:
I mean….what’s with the different lengths of the slip and the mesh here?
Maybe I’m just not fashion forward enough for this skirt. And, the only skirt I own that I really like is also black (my Lady Mary Crawley skirt), so I had no qualms about sending this skirt I did NOT really like back from whence it came.
Daniel’s Take: “It’s like it’s a joke about fishnets.”
Alright, on to greener pastures.
Shirt: Stitch Fix, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote, Necklace: chloe +isabel, Shoes: Blowfish from Twice
Item #2: Tyson Split Neck Blouse: Renee C. Yes, please. I am definitely in the mood for cute, warm weather tops. Sorry about my feet being cut off. Maybe I should start paying my faithful photographer or something.
Aha. There’s my feet. Thanks, Daniel. You’re the best.
See? It’s purty! I love how breathable it is without showing too much skin or having to deal with bra strap issues.
I’ve been wearing approximately it 84% of the time since the weather turned warm.
Daniel take: “I like it. I’m not as excited about it as you are….I mean…I’m not going to wear it myself…so….”
Top: Stitch Fix, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote,, Shoes: DSW
Item #3: Boho Top: Renee C. It was so comfortable and breezy that I also kept it but…
Daniel’s Take: “So close. If the sleeves were longer? There’s a lot of ifs. It’s like whoever made it didn’t understand human proportions.”
I really liked the colors, it was just something about the sleeves?
Ok, movin’ on.
Top: Stitch Fix, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote, Shoes: Target
Item #4: Black and White Patterned Top. I don’t hate the fit, the pattern is just soooooo not me. The little patches of checkers make me think of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Although I did dress up as Dorothy for Halloween multiple Octobers as a child, I’m not as excited about dressing up as Dorothy in 2015.
Daniel’s Take: “#4: “It’s like you’re a bad abstract painting.”
Keep smiling, bad abstract painting.
I do enjoy flowy tops that cover the bum so that I can wear leggings or super skinny jeans without feeling tacky. Tacky is a southern girl’s nightmare of nightmares.
OK, and the final winner:
Top: Stitch Fix, Pants: Gap (used from Twice), Shoes: Blowfish (used from Twice)
Item #5: Ignacio Tie Neck Crochet Top: Daniel Rainn. Losin’ the light here with these photos. Sorry, y’all.
I love me some crochet/lacy goodness. I was a teensy bit on the fence about whether to keep it, but I did and have worn it several times in the past couple of weeks, so I think it was a good call.
Daniel’s Take: “Yeah. Cool. Peasant chic. I’m with it.”
And that’s it for this fix, folks!
Oh! And I almost forgot! I just got the memo that Stitch Fix is now offering maternity clothes! I know a bunch of you have told me that the one thing holding you back from ordering a fix is that they don’t carry maternity but….now they do! You just sign up, update your profile with your due date, and let your stylist know what you’re looking for. Your stylist will take it from there!
And as a reward for making it to the end of this post….
Ta da! My totally adorable teensy baby godson! Prayers for sweet Finnian and his twin brother Benedict to pack on those pounds and become champion nursers. Weight gain and nursing have been a struggle so far. And for their awesome parents (and five brothers and sisters) to get enough sleep to survive the next few months!
